They watch a video of loud, agitated avatars using whatever soothing thoughts the patient wants. he or she then tries to get the avatars on the screen to sit down and be quiet. 

When it works, the patient then knows that those thoughts may help. when symptoms of ptsd show up even better and better, even after the treatment, even three months after the treatment, they're getting better and better in learning how to do what's called emotional regulation, how to regulate their emotions, how to what we call cognitively reappraise or or learn how to reevaluate situations in a more positive way. 

In a clinical study that was done by the manufacturer, 67% of patients said they felt their ptsd improved, 32% said they were in remission. three months after treatment.
